Brigette Lee [she/her]
Vancouver, Canada
Having grown up as an Asian-Canadian in a well off family, I’ve
experienced my fair share of guilt and pressure from both my family
and myself. The stereotype of going into medicine or law has always
hung above my brother and I, and has guided a lot of my decisions
since I became aware of the expectations I am meant to hold. I’ve
always felt that there is a carved out path I am meant to walk but
I’ve learned that my family will support me no matter what. Family is
such an important aspect of my life and I’m incredibly overprotective
of those I love, making me vulnerable to such a vast variety of
emotions, most of which I tend to express through poetry.
