Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi
Mākou is a set of playing cards (from Ace - King) designed utilizing Hawaii's local culture as the motif. Inspired by local Hawaiʻi artist such as Kris Goto, I wanted to illustrate my local background through 13 creative designs.
“Mākou”— meaning "us" in Hawaiian, embodies the greater community (inluding Hawaii's prominent AAPI community) that make up the local culture.
I hope this card set not only brings joy to those who can guess all 13 numbers, but also serves as an opportunity for non-locals to understand the unique culture that belongs to the islands.
