This piece is captured from a moment between my mother and my brother.
I thought it was a beautiful example of those moments of love within
Asian families that are so often overlooked in western representations
of asian family life. The placement of the trees symbolizes that
though Asian familial philosophy differs from Western, my mother still
serves as a shade for her young saplings. Furthermore, I chose to name
this piece Madonna and Child II as an homage to one of the most famous
Western portrayals of motherhood but in a new, Asian light.
